Town Slatine

Town Slatine is beautiful little fishing and tourist town in northern part of island Ciovo. Town Slatine belongs to minucipality of town Split, which is connected with shipping line during tourist season. Through history inhabitants have been dealing with fishing and agriculture, and Tourism has become their main activity recently. In very town Slatine there is little marina for berth of 50 boats, which means inhabitants a lot, several restaurants, taverns, pizzerias and post office, so they can host every passenger or tourist who is coming to this beautiful town. From very town, beautiful Kastela bay and towns Trogir and Split are seen. Its name, town Slatine has got after its brackish water springs, which inhabitants have been using for watering fields. Town Slatine has been mentioned for first time in 16th century as a town where hermits and monks were coming to. Number of inhabitants has increased rapidly after year 1537. when Klis castle has fallen, and inhabitants of Kastela field have started to run away from Turkish army. Slatine is today modern town which is mostly dealing with Tourism and enrichment of its offer, so guests could come on island Ciovo and to Town Slatine as more as possible.
