Town Gradac

The town Gradac is beautiful little town in the far south of the Riviera Makarska. It is known after the pebbles beaches, pure nature, rich history, clean sea, and a visit of the numerous tourists. History of town Gradac

In the History Of Town Gradac the area, round the present settlement, has been settled, even in the ancient times. At that time, the roman settlement - Civitas Biston - has existed, as the component part of the colony Narona ( town Metkovic ). From this spot, they have controled the maritime transport in the Neretva channel, trade with the hinderland and the transport on the river Neretva. In the history of town Gradac, in the middle age, in this area, the settlement of Labinac has existed. It was mentioned for the first time in the year 1649. as the casttle on the hill, over the settlement. It has been built during the Candian War ( 1645-1669. ) which was taken place between the Venetian and Ottoman empire. After this fortress, a Town Gradac has got its name.

Gradac

Gradac is today the modern tourist resort with the beautiful beaches, nature, clean sea and the rich tourist offer. It has situated under the bottom of the Biokovo mountain, on the Riviera Makarska. Because it is near the traffic centre, many passengers, guests and the tourists are coming here. The castle on the hill, over the Gradac has played significant role during the Candian War (1645-1669), between the Venice and the Turkish empire.
