Town Arbanija

Town Arbanija is beautiful seaside tourist town situated on middle northern part of Island Ciovo and it belongs to municipality of Trogir. From very town Arbanija, beautiful Kastela Bay and its 7 settlements are seen. Inhabitants are mostly dealing with fishery, agriculture on surrounding fields and tourism. In town Arbanija are coming those guests and tourists who love peace and silence without large rush on roads and in very town. In its close vicinity there are untouched pebbles and rocky beaches surrounded by dense pinaries. Town Arbanija has restaurant, pizzeria, several caffee bars and shops. Town Arbanija has been mentioned for first time in 15th century when building of Dominican monastery Sveti Kriz has begun. At beginning, workers and craftsmen have been coming and later their families and other immigrants, who were running away from mainland from Turkish army. It is assumed that Town Arbanija has got its name after immigrants Arbanasi from town Zadar surroundings when they have populated island Ciovo at beginning of 18th century. Arbanasi were people who has lived in Albania in province Sestani arround Skadar lake, when they have been forced to leave their homes, run away from Turkish army in period from 1726 – 1733th year and come to province under Venetian authority. They have settled at several spots in town Zadar surroundings and on islands for their safety of attacks. In its history Town Arbanija has changed many administations and authorities. Taday it is modern Tourist Town Arbanija whith about 200 objects which provide tourist services to munerous guests and tourists.
