Celebrations of towns and their protectors, every town in Dalmatia has its protector, who has protected them during the history from the attacks from the sea or land, diseases, hunger, poverty, natural disasters and the other evils.
In the difficult times, the inhabitants in the towns have believed that their Protector or blessed, will protect them from all kinds of evils or sufferings. These protectors or protectresses were famous, important,historic or church persons, who have been meritorious for the defence of the inhabitants, their families and security of those towns. These persons are dating from the ancient history, and the folk traditions have been never ceased. When it was concerning the holy protector, the church and the believers would have organized the Procession with : The picture or statue of their protector, representatives of the town,brotherhoods,associations and citizents. This celebration of the town, would be celebrated solemny with the reach cultural,church and entertaining program.
The reveille in the early morning hours, announces the Celebration of the town and its protector. It covers few days, so could take place many sports,mass's ili cultural performances, enriched with the gastronomic offer, and enable the guests and tourists to enjoy and include to this celebration. At that day, it is often the case, of an opening of the newly built objects,expositions or the begining of some activity. This Celebration is often in the program of the tourist offer and promotion of the region or the town.
