Swimming marathon, town of Stari grad, island Hvar

To enrich the diversity of the tourist services and increase the number of the guests and tourists, the Stari Grad tourist board, organize in the August, 3 marathons : Of one,2,2 and 16 kilometres. On the days of marathon, in the Stari grad harbour, many curious guests,local inhabitants and tourists have gathered to watch these Marathon swimmers. At the start signal, all the participants start to swim, by the applause and ovation of the present audience. They are escorted by the boats fleet, which take care of the safety,health and the medical care, if needed be.

The professional staff and the judges have marked the swimming route and the turnstiles by the buoys. When the Swimmers have reached the turnstile, they have to return to the starting position in the harbour. The number of the Marathon Swimmers is increasing every year.
