Summer carnival

Summer carnival in the town of Makarska is the special attraction for every guest who comes to this town. It is very interesting, that every participant in the carnival, enjoys in the dressing and makeup, so they could become the other person or mask. Even the summer heat, doesn't prevent them of doing that. The organizers have taken the care to make the suitable program, which should attract the numerous guests and provide the rich entertainment for everyone. Therefore, it is taking place in the evening hours, when the heat and the air temperature, fall. The carnival procession starts at 21 h, and is moving all over the city promenade, by the escort of the city brass. About 22 h, on the Kacic square, the carnival leader keeps the salutatory speech and present the groups and special individuals with the original costumes. After that, on the square and promenade, the entertainment with the music begins. After the early morning hours, the entertainment continues in the restaurants and bars.

Usually, there were about 500 costumed persons in the procession who enjoys the party. Every year, the number of the participants and guests, is increasing. The Summer Carnival is component part of the Makarska town tourist offer.
