Marulic days celebration,town of Split

On April 21-28th, in the year 2010. the 20th Marulic days celebration has taken place, to the honour of the famous croatian writer, Marko Marulic ( 1450-1524 ). For these festival, 19 professional theatres from the Croatia and 1 abroad, with 22 perfomances have been registered. The selector was Miss Nenni Delmestre. These Marulic days program has manifested as the real festival the croatian dramas and authors' creation, where the performers and the numerous audience have equally enjoyed in. These festival within the celebration, had the competitive character for the dramatic performances and texts. The best dramas have been awarded with the audience and Marul rewards in the 9 categories. The ministery of the culture has awarded the best dramatic texts with the Marin Drzic Reward for the dramatic performance. Slobodna Dalmacija newspaper has also awarded the reward to the best actors and performances which have taken place in the Croatian national theatre of the town of Split. The scientific,literary and editorial program has taken the place in the space of the literary club Split-Marulianum. The Marulic days celebration are allways taken place April on 22th , because that day Marko Marulic has finished the essay of his famous novel Judita.

In the history of the Republic of Croatia, it has been recorded as the first essay writen in the croatian language. At that time, it was usually for the essays to be writen in latin language, so the commons couldn't understand nor read. For something like that, the courage and the skill was needed. Therefore the inhabitants of the town Split pay honour to this famous son of fatherland and writer.
