Emperor Diocletian nights, town of Split

Within the Split tourist summer and the enrichment of the town Split tourist offer, the youth club has organized the 3 days' celebration «Emperor Diocletian nights». Whole the program has been taken the August on 20-23th during the tourist season apex. Under the motto «Panem et circenses- the bread and games, the town Split has organized the arrival the emperor Dioklecian and his wife Priska in the coach to the solemn place of Peristil. Usually in this space, the roman emperor Diocletian used to meet the authority representatives,ambassadors,roman provinces delegates and the military commanders. Their arrival has been announced by fanfares and drums. After they have approached to the solemnly decorated stage, the emperor was adressing to the audience. He gave the order to his guard-costumed Storico Romano group- to array and to pay him an attention, so the further program could continue.

After this event, the enthusiastic egyptian women dance, as the roman provinces representatives, has followed. This beautiful picture ot the roman togas,the golden and laurel wreaths,Rome guard soldiers,gladiators with the weapons,picturesque belts and the costumed roman citizens, have delighted numerous guests and tourists. The performances have taken place at the squeres with the dalmatian singing gangs and the music. At the fruit's square, many old handcrafts and its souvenirs have been presented. The rich offer of the dishes,cakes and sweets from the age of Romans, in the Diocletian's Palace Cellars has been organized. On the promenade, the commercial offer of the dishes and dalmation specialties has been presented by the Restaurant Premier.

This celebration has lasted for 4 days, and within the entertainment and gastronomic offer, everyone could find something for itself. There were numerous guests,tourists and visitors, and all of them were delighted. Next year, this celebration was also announced.
