Nature park Kopacki rit Croatia is situated in north eastern part of Croatia, at river Drava estuary into river Dunav, 16 km north east of town Osijek and near town Bilje. As Nature park Kopacki rit Croatia it has become in year 1967. to preserve largest swamp area in Europe and protect whole biological world of 2000 species of flora and fauna. Nature park Kopacki rit is situated in area of 177 km2, of which 72 km2 belongs to southern zoological reserve and 105 km2 to southern Swamp ecological area which has numerous channels, special river vegetation and important ornithological and ichthyological areas. Nature park Kopacki rit Croatia is largest Fish Hatchery of river Dunav for: Carps, pikes, catfish, perches and many other fish. For rich forests of wilows, poplars, hornbeams and other trees, here live numerous animals: Dears, roes, wild boars, wild cats, badgers, rabbits, foxes and other animals. Various and thick Swamp plants enable 140 bird species to nest here, like: Herons, river gulls, terns, cormorants, eagles, black storks, hawks, harrier, wild geese, ferruginouses and other birds. Numerous species of plants and animals which live in forests, swamps, river and on meadows have adjusted to terms of flooding in spring and autumn and of drought period in summer.
