National park Brijuni Croatia is archipelago which is situated in north western part of Croatia, 1 nm far of town Fazana on peninsula Istra and it has been proclaimed as national park in year 1983. About 150.000 tourists a year are visiting National park Brijuni Croatia. Archipelago Brijuni consists of 14 lowland islands with overall surface of 34 km2. Most famous are Large Brijun which has surface of 7 km2 and Small Brijun with surface of 1.7 km2. National park Brijuni has long history, because even millennium b.c. Histrians have been living here, then Romans, Byzantine and many other authorities and countries. For all these people, Brijuni were attractive because they are lowlanded with many fertile land, which could be cultivated. Besides, sea have given them many fish and shalls, so they have inhabited these islands for long time. On islands in National Park Brijuni Croatia there is rich forest of oaks and pine trees, and most famous tree is olive tree 16 centuries old, which has been planted, most likely by old romans who had here their villa.
