Blue cave Croatia is unique natural phenomenon in world, known after its shape, unusual silver colour and Sunlight Reflection from sea bottom. This Natural Phenomenon has been always known to Island Vis inhabitants, because they have been seeing some strange light under sea. Soon, it has been rumoured about all over towns and former Austro Hungarian authority ( 1867 – 1918 ) which has sent its explorer baron Eugen von Ransonet. He has explored that cave and suggested to expand main entrance with explosive. It was done in year 1884. so, blue cave Croatia has been approachable to visitors, because now, entrance with small boats was possible. Island Bisevo is 4 nm far off SW from town Komiza on island Vis, it has surface of 5,84 km2 and highest hill of 240 m. Island Bisevo is known after its numerous caves which have been formed for erosion of limestone, strong marine waves and currents. Most famous Caves are Medvidina and Blue cave Croatia. Once, specific mediterranean seals have been living here, who have had here their peace in numerous open and submarine Caves and abundance of fish. For often arrivals of people and fishermen, these mediterranean seals have run away to distant islands of Adriatic sea. Blue cave Croatia is situated in cove of Balun, and main entrance has been widened, so small boats can enter into it. Specificity of this cave is in having of 2 holes. Smaller one is located under sea, and at certain times of day, light penetrates through sea and that hole, and because of Sunlight Reflection from sea bottom, whole this room of main cave gets silver blue colour. Blue Cave has dimensions of 24 x 12 m, debth of 20 m, so in this space, only few small boats can enter and stay. All visitors who are in boats, are amazed of that beauty, light, special illumination of whole cave, boats, people and feeling that they are in some magic room. This pleasure can be experienced only here. For its hydrological features Blue Cave Croatia has been proclamed as Natural Phenomenon in year 1951.
